Primary School Experience at Cabragh Wetlands

At Cabragh Wetlands, we provide an exciting and educational experience tailored specifically for primary school students, all at very reasonable rates! Our program offers children the opportunity to explore and appreciate their natural heritage through a variety of hands-on activities in our beautiful wetlands.

During their visit, students will engage in:

  • Pond Exploration: Kids will have the chance to discover the fascinating world of aquatic life through pond-dipping, seeing freshwater invertebrates up close and finding out how human activities affect water quality and biodiversity.
  • Bird Hide Observation: Students can observe local bird species from our well-equipped bird hide, and learn about Ireland’s international importance as a destination for summer and winter migrating bird populations.
  • Hedgerow Discovery: Exploring the hedgerows, children will learn about how native plants provide food and shelter to insects, birds and small mammals, enhancing their knowledge of interrelationships in ecosystems.
  • Orienteering Challenge: To promote teamwork and navigation skills, students will participate in an orienteering challenge. This fun activity encourages collaboration as they work together to find their way through the wetlands.

Our program is designed to satisfy children’s natural curiosity about the world around them while instilling a sense of custodianship for their environment. Each tour lasts approximately three hours and includes a break for lunch, allowing students to recharge and reflect on their experiences.

Prices start at just €5 per child, making this an affordable and enriching opportunity for schools to connect students with nature.

Join us at Cabragh Wetlands for a memorable day filled with discovery, learning, and fun!
