Ecology and Field Studies Program at Cabragh Wetlands
At Cabragh Wetlands, we are proud to offer a comprehensive curriculum-based program focused on ecology and field studies. This engaging program is designed to provide students with hands-on experience and an understanding of ecological principles and the natural environment tailored to either Junior Cert or Leaving Cert.
Participants will explore various essential topics, including:
- Habitat Identification: Learn to recognize different habitats and understand the abiotic factors that determine their characteristic plant and animal communities.
- Species Survey and Identification: Gain skills in identifying terrestrial and freshwater animals and plants through guided observation and the use of keys.
- Field Techniques: Use ecological survey methods to collect and analyse data on species distributions and abiotic factors.
- Ecological Concepts: Explore with hand-on examples the principles of adaptation, competition, and interdependence among species, fostering a holistic view of the interactions within ecosystems.
Our ecology courses are conducted by qualified and experienced course leaders, ensuring that students receive expert guidance and support. These courses are available during September and October, as well as from March to May, allowing for flexible participation throughout the academic year.
All necessary equipment will be provided, so students can focus on their learning and exploration without the need for prior preparation.
The cost per student is just €5, making this program an accessible opportunity for all.
